I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays!  If you haven't been tangling or drawing then get those sketchbooks and coloring books back out - here's today's assignment from your local librarian and fellow doodler:

List five things that always and immediately bring a smile to your face.
-from Start Where You Are: A Journal for Self-Exploration by Meera Lee Patel

Take the list you've just made and draw a tile around it.  Outside of the tile, draw your string, and then start filling it in, anywhere you like, with the patterns you've learned.  Don't be afraid to color it in when you're done!

Have a safe and splendid New Year, everyone!  -JW

I've added two new Zentangle books to our library collection.  Check them out!

500 Tangled Artworks: A Showcase of Inspired Illustrated Designs by Beckah Krahula
This is a nice, meaty book packed full of inspiration.  If you're stumped on what to tangle, this is the book for you.

Pattern Play: a Zentangle Creativity Boost by Cris Letourneau
If you're looking for a book with guided prompts to get you going, you'll find it here.

Check out our library catalog to place your hold on these and other Zentangle books!

Greetings Tangle and Color enthusiasts!  Finally - our blog is up!

For those of you that missed our meetings in October and November, these are the names of the Zentangle patterns we learned together:
For October: Cheesecloth, Waves, Marbles, Dandelion Seeds, Papyrus, Knightsbridge, Lettuce Farm
For November: Emingle, Ambler, Maize, Neurons, Nebula, Vortex, Hypnotic

We also talked about some of the best places on the internet to get help with learning Zentangle.  Really, there's loads of places to choose from, but we looked at the official Zentangle website, Tanglepatterns.com, and Pinterest.  You need to create a free account to use Pinterest, but it's easy, and once you do you will be forever and hopelessly addictinspired (that's a new word I made up).

Hope to see you all at the next Tangle Group get-together on January 21, 7:00 PM, Community Room, Billings Public Library.  Bring your coloring books!
